The museum
The "wooden room" was commissioned in the 17th century by the Emma family to enhance the entrance hall of her house in Olivone in the Blenio Valley. This room was also served as the "stüva", or the room which housed the stone built which stove which provided heating. The stove bears the crest of the Emma family (an eagle and a lion rampant). The room was built entirely in solid walnut, except for the ceiling decorations and parts of the cupboard which are not visible (shelved and back) made in fit. The Canton of Ticino was aware of the historical importance of the room and decided to buy it from the Poglia heirs in 1944. Initially it was housed in Castelgrande and remained there until 1989 when it was transferred to Sasso Corbaro and completely restored. At the Belvedere of the Castle: temporary expositions.
